The Record Projection: 24-58 of fromal The Bet: Under with confidence Try to name the Atlanta Hawks’ five greatest players following Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard’s departures. It is not the simplest of jobs. That would be fine if the franchise which has made the playoffs each of the last 10 seasons were overflowing with talent, instead of the current situation that is rather conducive to the dreaded”t” word.
Dennis Schroder is part of the mix, as well as newly acquired large man Dewayne Dedmon. However, who else? Kent Bazemore, Ersan Ilyasova and Taurean Prince? Will Marco Belinelli or Luke Babbitt be in the mix if they can keep shooting as they did with the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, respectively? Are we prepared to throw John Collins?
This Atlanta roster may have some upside down, but it’s almost completely devoid of recognized talent. The top pieces have question marks, since Schroder has not served as the unquestioned leader of a team, Dedmon has to play more than 17.5 minutes per game and Bazemore is coming from a disappointing effort.
Talent wins out from the NBA, and the Hawks don’t have enough of itor enough motivation to avert the base of the Eastern Conference–to shove toward the 26 wins necessary for the over bet.
