Vegas Over/Under: 25.5
Fromal’s Record Projection: 24-58 The Bet: Under with marginal confidence Try to name the Atlanta Hawks’ five greatest players after the offseason departures of Dwight Howard and Paul Millsap. It’s not the easiest of tasks. And that would be OK in the event the franchise that has made the playoffs each of the previous ten seasons were filled with talent, instead of the current situation that’s rather conducive to this dreaded”t” word.
Dennis Schroder is certainly part of this mix, in addition to newly acquired large man Dewayne Dedmon. However, who else? Kent Bazemore, Taurean Prince and Ersan Ilyasova? Can Marco Belinelli or Luke Babbitt maintain the mix if they can keep shooting as they did with the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, respectively? Are we prepared to throw John Collins to the equation?
This Atlanta roster may have some upside, but it is almost entirely devoid of established talent. The top pieces have question marks, since Schroder hasn’t functioned as the unquestioned leader of a team, Dedmon has yet to play over 17.5 minutes per game and Bazemore is coming off a disappointing effort.
Talent wins out from the NBA, along with the Hawks do not have enough of itor enough motivation to avert the base of the Eastern Conference–to push toward the 26 wins necessary for the over bet.
