Charlotte Purdue was pounding on a lab treadmill in 36C warmth for the last month.
The 28-year-old told BBC Sport she had completed 10 sessions of up to 90 minutes each at St Mary’s University’s section, together with two remaining. “I was talking to Qatari high jumper Mutaz Barshim who said he found it quite cold because there were constant jets of air. Of course, for us running we won’t feel that.”
McColgan, 28, also passed advice to those planning to train beyond the stadium:”I’ve been operating in public parks since the roads are chaos.
“You also must be sure that you’re covered appropriately so as to respect the culture and faith. I’m sure I wear more tops or three-quarter length leggings, and I will always wear a T-shirt.”
Purdue will line-up to your women’s marathon starts her campaign together using the 10,000m final on Saturday at 19:10 BST.
