Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio comes retired from football after a short bout with Russian side Zenit St Petersburg at age 33.
After spending 25 years at the club at which he also won four walkers in addition to seven Serie A names, marchisio finished his stay at Juve last year. He earned 55 caps.
Its an important decision but a very difficult one. It was right to reveal it at a really special place. I chose to retire because I realised that my entire body was no longer responding as the head wanted, Marchisio told colleagues at Juves Allianz Stadium.
He combined Zenit on a deal in September but cut his spell brief earlier this season because of a knee difficulty after handling just nine appearances.
I invested unforgettable minutes on the area… I thank Juventus and the other teams I played , my team-mates, supervisors and trainers who gave me all this, he added.
Here I lifted my most significant decorations. These are the emotions that will always stay within me
