Cubs vs. Pirates MLB Pick – August 18th

It was terrifying at the 9th and 8th inning for the Chicago Cubs yesterday day, but the bullpen ultimately got the job done to secure a 2-0 victory. The Cubs managed to dismiss what looked like a secure lead in the 9th, the night before. However, a similar fate wasnt going to take place for the Cubs. Rowan Wick and tyler Chatwood combined to pitch three perfect innings, allowing no runs and no hits. The only real mistake was Tyler Chatwood devoting a stroll.
Chatwood has grown in the ideal reliever that the Cubs have in their bullpen. Joe Maddon has not been using him enough, often turning. Among the problems with not turning to Chatwood often is the amount of work he gets out of the bullpen.
When things are rolling, he is typically eclipsing 3 innings about the bump, so that takes him from the equation for the next moment. Maddon has been careful to preserve his arm down the stretch for the time of their normal season. After blowing off what should have been a triumph on Friday night, the Cubs needed to go to Chatwood to find some of their mojo back from the clubhouse.
Jon Lester should find some recognition in this spot. Lester was going through conflicts, but seems to be back on the track. If they need to be playing in October, the Cubs will need him down the stretch. Lester was sharp in 6 innings, having allowed just 4 hits and no runs. Tonight wills turn, although the Pirates will proceed with Mitch Keller on Sunday Night Baseball. Head below for our complimentary Cubs vs. Pirates select.

This day, mitch Keller will probably soon be making just his fifth key league start and it comes from primetime on Sunday Night Baseball. The newcomer is currently getting some valuable experience upward in the big leagues with the Pirates. Its been a start to his profession, with a few that went plus a couple outings. His very best effort came from his latest outing, since he had been eloquent with only 1 earned run allowed in five innings against the Angels.
In his positive outing, Keller surrendered 4 hits and 2 earned runs in the home into the Tigers. The Tigers have one of the worst offenses in baseball, so that may have just been a consequence of playing with a terrible team. Keller was abysmal against Reds and the Braves in his two outings, letting 12 earned runs.
He managed to bring his numbers down however, the damage was done. Keller heads into Sunday night with an ERA of both 7.94 along with 2.00 WHIP. In case tonight demonstrates to be a success night in the office, Hed get a enormous rush of confidence. Im not certain he gets from this one using a leading stat line. The Cubs holding down them like that again is going to be tough to the Pirates and slept afternoon.
The Pirates have a date. He has been pitching well recently. The Athletics and Phillies scored only 2 runs throughout 13 innings of play in complete Quintana. Quintana goes to this one with an amazing 1.89 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in his previous three outings.
Since he has allowed more than 3 runs in 3 or less runs in seven and a beginning its also been five outings. The Pirates are hitting just .202 with 3 home runs strike from Quintana at 124 showings at the plate. The Cubs have had their own battles on the street in 2019, however, look for them to wrap this up road trip.
