Swinger’s 2019 College Football Record: 0-1 (-1.10 Components )
The Stanford Cardinal may devote the week of this season in the home of their Pac-12 rivals, the USC Trojans. Even the Cardinal notched a 17-7 victory over Northwestern in their season but they didn’t escape unscathed as Stanford quarterback K.J. Costello chose a forearm to the chin shortly before the half causing him to leave the match, whilst blindside tackle Walker”Not So” Small lasted a dislocated knee and is out for the foreseeable future. Left guard Dylan Powell is not anticipated to go after he was injured in Week 1. This leaves a offensive line, possibly without their starting QB, that will be a setback to a Cardinal team early in this season.
USC won their season opener from 31-23’s score Fresno State but that was not quite enough to cover the 13 1/2 point impost for all those who backed the Trojans. As USC quarterback JT Daniels has been dropped for the season after suffering a torn ACL to his 27, it may have been a victory. That will require an alteration in signal-callers with genuine freshman Kedon Slovis slated to take the reins after moving 6-of-8 for 57 yards departure week after taking over for Daniels.
The last time the teams met the Cardinal captured a 17-3 victory in September of 2018. However USC had won the preceding time to both contests and have the luxury of advantage between two teams that are quite equal in talent. However, the wildcards are the quarterbacks with lots of rolling the dice on Stanford, presuming that Costello will be back in the saddle to get this conference clash.
But I am siding with the Trojans based on the simple fact that they are better equipped to put things on the board because of an offensive line that is undamaged, unlike Stanford’s in which two beginning linemen on the left side of this ball is going to be sidelined. We are also getting value here since the Trojans -3 were opened with by the college soccer odds into where they sit a one-point home favorite.
I am not anticipating any heroics from both sides with both coaches looking to grind out this one using their individual rushing attacks. The Trojans will continue to pound on the ball and reports about the USC freshman quarterback indicate that the kid can handle the pressure and will be solid in the aid of the injured starter JT Daniels. Back up the Trojans and money a ticket on Saturday!
