Back in a congested O2 Arena at London in February, Eubank Jr – despite conceding experience and dimension – out-hustled a game James DeGale to capture the very win of his career.
Boxing’s studious jury, an extremely harsh bunch, had reserved judgement on Eubank’s progress following losses to Billy Joe Saunders in 2014, and George Groves in the beginning of this past year, but the win over DeGale provided Eubank Jr using a prized stage, ready forced to build on.
Fast forward seven months along with Eubank, still very much that the pugilist, could declare that success over DeGale has been meant to be the start of a busy 2019 that could see him boost his profile and add wins. That does not indicate nothing has changed in regards to me getting to where I wish to be, but I didn’t fully intend to have a 2019.
“The win over DeGale felt gratifying for many reasons as it proved what I’ve known all along. There was lots of who had some doubts regarding my position within this sport, but I’ve always believed in myself and that is the way it has always been.”
Eubank Jr spirit was a trademark of the Brighton fighter since making his professional bow in 2011. Another boxer with an admirable spirit, the willpower in winning losing attempts of Eubank Jr, has been documented. With a few doubts about his ceiling the 29-year-old maintains his deficiency of stunt was instilled in him since an early age and it.
“If people understood what I’ve forfeited then they’d understand why I put a lot into every struggle. It has been my life for so long as I could remember as well as means that there can’t be no other manner. I have been starving for success throughout my career and that appetite is with me.
“I see myself as the best fighter on the planet and that is because I must. There can not be no other way. I can not go into a fight with the other titles that are about my own weight, who want the very same as me, rather than feel that I am better than them.”
On his immediate future, Eubank Jr is determined that he is appealed to by only the stages. “I’m probably as near my peak as I am ever likely to be, so the next stage of my career is where I need to really step up and make my mark from the largest struggles.
“These upcoming couple of years is the place, I believe, people are going to observe the best model of me. I am peaking at the perfect time to find the best titles out there and folks will observe that when the big fights are created.”
