Marcus Trescothick delivers batting batting masterclass for Sky Cricket

10,236 works were thrashed by marcus Trescothick over the three formats for England – and demonstrated how he did it.
The 41-year-old, who motivated 14 hundreds from South Africa at The Oval, explained playing with the ball late was key to his success in international cricket. Trescothick declared he will retire from cricket on Thursday in their 2019 national season’s end.
“I was somebody who was competitive, I wished to score runs,” he said. “I did not wish to bat all day to get a hundred, I always wished to bat daily to receive 170. I was hit ball watch ball and tried to hit it late and underneath my eyes.
“I never went far in the ball with foot movement and normally when you’re not getting the contact you need, it is because you are hitting the ball too premature .”
Trescothick, who clubbed 12 ODI hundreds, also talked trigger motions, keeping up your head as well as the keys to playing spin.
“I could constantly sweep, which was my go-to shot, but as I played against better spinners in international cricket I had to create and be in a position to manipulate the ball. Because the pressure builds, you do not want to get stuck in one end.
“You can get on one knee and then also shred small tap sweeps. Additionally, if you stumble over the top of the ballyou can almost splat it on the ground to spend the bounce and the twist out of it”
